We’re Focused on What Matters Most Right Now in York County, Pennsylvania

At the Junior League of York we live in the moment. To us, that means adjusting our focus according to our community’s most pressing needs. Our work is always evolving, and that keeps us on our toes, striving for progress, and preparing to take on whatever comes next.

From 2019 – 2022, our League dedicated its efforts to supporting women and children affected by substance use. Through various community events, volunteer work, fundraisers, and drives, our League successfully raised awareness and funds for this area of need. Our most impactful financial contribution was a $20,000 grant awarded to WellSpan Foundations Pregnancy Support Services to support their mission of assisting pregnant women in substance recovery.

As of 2023, we’re eager to determine our next community goal. Through a process of volunteer and learning opportunities, we are deciding our next focus area from one of these four important issues:

  • Homelessness and Poverty
  • Food Security
  • Literacy/Education
  • Women’s Issues

After exploring these issues, we will determine our next focus area to drive our League’s efforts for the next three years. This process of selection helps us hyperfocus our work on the most needed areas in our community.

Our goal is to help York County women develop civic leadership skills through the work they do, then put those talents to work in the communities that need it. Our current focus of addressing critical community issues gives women opportunities to grow, while positively impacting the communities where they live and work.

We’re Creating Fulfilling Leadership Opportunities Throughout York County

The Junior League of York offers so much more than local volunteering opportunities! Our League of leaders creates real change by advancing social activism-focused projects that directly benefit the communities of York County. By giving women the tools to lead, educating them about their communities’ needs, and helping them put their unique brand of creativity and skill to work, the Junior League of York is making a big impact on south-central Pennsylvania

We’re Transforming York County Communities By Challenging the Status Quo

No matter what we’re currently focusing on, the Junior League of York’s work centers around improving our local communities through effective action and leadership. We identified four unique topics as the most pressing issues in our community right now, and we are helping local women take action to resolve it. So far this year, we have volunteered with various organizations such as Habitat for Humanity and the Catholic Harvest Food Pantry, raised funds for poverty inequities through a Little Black Dress Initiative, and collected items for families in need. We believe that these impactful actions have the power to bring us closer to our goal of supporting our community through meaningful work.
